Qatar(IAMINQATAR): The fifth meeting of the joint technical committee between Qatar and India on the issues of labour and manpower concluded yesterday.

The two-day meeting, which was held on the basis of the labour agreement signed between the two countries, was co-chaired by Assistant Undersecretary for Labour Affairs at Qatar’s Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs, Mohamed Hassan al-Obaidli, and Joint Secretary for Overseas Indian Affairs at the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, Manish Gupta.

The meeting discussed means of promoting the bilateral relations in the field of labour between the two countries, the latest developments and reforms in Qatar and ways of developing the recruitment procedures of Indian labour in Qatar, especially technical and specialised employment, as well as domestic labour.

The Indian delegation praised the great developments in Qatar in all fields and the new labour laws and reforms which they stressed will contribute to preserving the rights of all parties and enhancing confidence in the work environment in Qatar, because the reforms protect workers and reflect the keenness of the State of Qatar on the rights of workers of all categories.
